Compare two job offers over a year, including salary, bonus, social security, income tax, employer provident fund match, benefits and commuting, to see which gives more net value.
How it works
Yearly pay = salary × (12 + bonus months). Social security is 5% of wages up to the current ceiling. Tax assumes a single salaried person: 50% expense deduction up to THB 100,000, THB 60,000 personal allowance, social security and provident fund contributions, then the progressive rates. Net value = take-home + your fund savings + employer match + benefits − commute × 12.
Hand check: a THB 30,000 salary with no bonus earns THB 360,000; social security THB 10,500; net taxable THB 189,500; tax THB 1,975; take-home THB 347,525. A THB 35,000 salary pays THB 4,975 tax and takes home THB 404,525, THB 57,000 more a year with no fund or other items.
Tax uses only the basic allowances; a spouse, children, life insurance or other income change it. Employer matching may not fully vest if you leave early under fund rules. Put your own value on non-cash benefits. Future raises and job security are not included.
Frequently asked questions
Why count fund contributions as value?
Your contributions and vested matches remain your assets under fund rules even if not withdrawable now, so they count as value. Check the vesting schedule for the employer match.
How should an uncertain bonus be entered?
Use a cautious figure such as the company's actual average, or compare cases with and without a bonus.
Can I use this to negotiate?
Yes. The yearly difference shows how much more salary would offset lost benefits or extra commuting.
